"A Mother's Journey" by elizabeth butera

"My life forever changed on the day you were conceived,
Your heartbeat gave me the reality of what I had achieved.
The stages of your development, the picture of how you grew,
Never completely knowing if I should buy in pink or blue.
Then came the day when I was able to hold you in my arms,
Hoping, as any mother would, to protect you against harm.
A precious little baby with ten tiny new toes,
An amazing set of lungs and a cute little button nose.
As you grow with lightning speed, I promise to treasure every day,
And try my best to give you a rainbow when the sky is dark and grey."

baby bump debut

Isaiah is steadily growing as is my belly! Here is a view of my expanding progress at 20 weeks. I believe my exact thought as I was looking down at my belly was "Oh my gosh! I won't be able to see my feet pretty soon!" I am embracing each day and can't explain the joy that comes with each kick I feel. Can't wait to meet my little monkey!

My First Blog!

So, as if there aren't already enough social networking sites out there...I decided to add another to our life by creating a blog! This way our dearest family and friends can follow the "Adventures of the States" as our lives unfold. We are living in beautiful and sunny San Diego and enjoying every minute of it. Leith is finally in his last and final year of medical school and can't wait to be done! He has already matched at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego as an intern. He will officially be Dr Leith States...yay! I am working as an RN in the high risk antepartum and postpartum units at UCSD medical center and like most jobs there are days I love it and days I don't. I definitely can't complain that I only work 3 days a week and am considered full time! We have been married for almost three years now and can't believe how time flies! We have been blessed with the news that we are expecting our first addition to our family. Little Isaiah Shaun States is expected to arrive June 12, 2010. We couldn't be more excited to meet our little angel! To sum up our intro...We are extremely thankful and feel so blessed to be where we are in our lives. We hope you all enjoy following us throughout this journey in our lives. God Bless!
