newborn photoshoot

As I mentioned in a previous post, we have a great and very talented friend who is a photographer down here in San Diego. Amber is the owner of her photography business Amber Dawn Photography. She has been so kind as to capture our family's most special moments and we have NEVER been dissappointed with the finished product. Our last session with her completely revolved the newest member of our family. We learned that photographing a newborn is alot harder than we thought! Our morning included at least a couple breaks for feedings, one big wardrobe change when Isaiah decided to pee ALL OVER Leith (and I mean from head to toe!), about 30 minutes positioning Isaiah for a shot that I thought would never happen, and many "he's so cute!" moments. All in all...we had a blast! Thanks again to Amber for demonstrating her amazing talent yet again! Below are a few of my favorite shots...

2 months!

So our little boy is 2 months old now...how time flies! I can't believe that I have been changing diapers, doing insane amounts of laundry, feeding around the clock, and rocking him to sleep for two months already. We have enjoyed every minute of parenthood so far. Although there are times when we dont know what to do with ourselves there isn't a moment where his little smile doesn't melt our hearts and the feeling of having him in our arms doesn't overwhelm us with love.

Isaiah had his two month check-up and was found to be in fabulous condition! He is weighing in at a whopping 11 lbs 9 oz and 23 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile on all his measurements exactly to which his pediatrician replied "you are just absolutely perfect!". (I know we think he is!) He also got all his vaccines and did surprisingly well. After all the action at the doctor's office he was pooped so he slept all the way home and for the following 2 hours.

With reaching the ripe age of 2 months comes some major milestones for our little guy.

He smiles all the time...

He also holds his head up...

grips his rattle...

has started sucking his thumb (i don't have a picture of that though).
I was going to post a video of him cooing, but the blogger video upload isn't working at the moment.
Isaiah, we love every time you smile and everytime you stare up at us with those big brown eyes. Thank you for every moment you make us laugh and melt our hearts. We love you baby boy!

cups

So as some of you may know I have a major sweet tooth and usually never pass up a chance to eat something that has ice cream, chocolate, or peanut butter in its title. There is a cute new cupcake shop in downtown la jolla that makes all kinds of interesting and creative flavors of cupcakes that come in small or full cup sizes. The small cup is $2 and the full cup is $4. Already intrigued??? To makes things better the cupcakes are all organic! They even cater to any food preferences you might have by making some of their flavors vegan, gluten free, low-glycemic, and dairy-free. Each day they have a different menu with a variety of flavors ranging from old-fashioned vanilla bean to "bottoms up" cupcake which is a rich chocolate cup filled with chocolate chunks and marscarpone cheese topped with cream cheese frosting (my personal favorite which i had today!).

Needless to say, I strongly recommend a stroll down to Cups on Girard Ave in downtown La Jolla and get yourself a sweet treat. I am pretty sure you won't be disappointed!

three years

Today Leith and I celebrated three years of wedded bliss! Thanks to our dear friend Melissa for watching Isaiah so we could go out for a lunch and a movie date together. That's right...Leith had the day off today...yay! We were laughing at lunch today when we realized how much our lives have changed in the past three years but especially this year. Last year for our anniversary we spent a few days in Santa Barbara and this year (due to the new addition in our family) we spent a few hours down the street from our apartment having lunch...how times have changed! Don't get me wrong though...we wouldn't change this for the world. Becoming parents has been the most life-changing experience and I am so happy we are doing it together. Who would have known seven years ago when I walked into my organic chemistry class as a freshman in college that I would meet my future husband and the father of my beautiful baby boy. These past three years have been the best in my life and I can't imagine spending life with anybody else but my best friend. I love you baby...Happy Anniversary!

all smiles

I never imagined how much little things could just brighten my day until Isaiah smiled for the first time. At first I just believed in the myth that babies smile sporadically and completely unrelated to the fact that mommy is smiling at them, but after several smiling sessions I believe he has now mastered the art of smiling back when smiled at or spoken to. (of course in that high pitched baby voice we all know and have used on more than one occasion). He's even started making little cooing noises! It is amazing how that little smile makes my heart melt.

Stay tuned for more of the many faces of Isaiah...
